About Journal
Earth Science Research (ESR) is an international, double-anonymized peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Canadian Center of Science and Education. The journal publishes original research articles, applied studies, and educational articles in the fields of earth sciences.
Authors are encouraged to submit complete, original, unpublished manuscripts that are not under review by any other journal. All published articles are freely available online.
Focus and Scope
Earth Science Research publishes scientific, technological, applied, review, and educational work across the Earth sciences. The journal covers mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology; sedimentology, stratigraphy, and palaeontology; tectonics, geophysics, and crustal evolution; geomorphology, surface processes, and Quaternary science; hydrology, hydrogeology, soils, and water‑resource systems; earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and floods; climate change, palaeoclimate, and Earth‑system modelling; mineral, energy, and groundwater resources; environmental geology, engineering geology, and land use; and remote sensing, GIS, and geophysical exploration.
Geoeducation, public geoscience, and geological‑policy research are considered when their contribution is explicitly grounded in Earth science.
Original research must identify the Earth material, process, structure, system, or hazard under study and use evidence capable of supporting the claims. Methods papers should validate new or materially improved analytical, observational, computational, or geospatial approaches. Critical reviews must offer a structured synthesis and identify consequential gaps. Hypothesis papers require a coherent evidentiary basis and testable implications. Educational studies must evaluate geoscience learning, reasoning, or communication.
Papers centered on generic spatial analysis, resource management, planning, policy, or engineering without a substantive geoscience contribution are outside scope.
