Abstract
A new phase with the composition Sr3NbCrO7 has been synthesised by the traditional ceramic method. X-ray diffraction studies show that the phase crystallizes in the RP-type (n =2) structure with tetragonal unit cell (a = 3.994 and c = 21.015 Å) in the space group I4/mmm. The electrical resistivity measurements as a function of temperature suggest that the phase is insulator in nature in the temperature range 10-300 K and the conduction occurs by 3D hopping mechanism.
