Abstract

This study employed a mixed-methods design combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to investigate knowledge, understanding, and participation levels regarding the Royal Queen Sirikit Highland Agricultural Development Station Project in Ban Pha Kha, Kamphaeng Phet Province, Thailand. Data were collected from 170 households and 29 collaborating agencies using knowledge tests, participation surveys, and in-depth interviews. Results indicate high levels of agricultural knowledge transfer among hill tribe farmers, particularly in pest control, fertilization, and soil management, though awareness of natural resource conservation remains moderate. Public participation is strong in information access and decision-making but moderate in direct operational involvement. Based on these findings, three guideline frameworks are proposed: enhancing agency collaboration and role clarity, instituting continuous performance monitoring, and fostering community-based knowledge development through cultural activities. These integrated approaches aim to strengthen sustainable development by balancing technical capacity, environmental stewardship, and participatory governance. The study contributes to the literature on community-driven agricultural development and offers practical recommendations for improving project effectiveness in similar contexts.
