Abstract

This research aims to study the role of community-based creative art as a learning process that connects artists with the community through shared memories and local cultural values. It focuses on the development of contemporary creative art processes that can reflect and negotiate the community’s cultural identity in alignment with contemporary social contexts. Additionally, it aims to create contemporary art spaces developed through community participation that promote exchange and collective awareness, as well as develop a model of community-based creative art spaces that empower social strength and contribute to long-term cultural and creative economic development. This research uses a qualitative research design, employing Participatory Action Research (PAR), with active community involvement throughout the study. Data collection includes observations, interviews with key target groups such as community leaders, artists, teachers, students, and community members, as well as art-related activities like workshops, art exhibitions, and community discussions. The collected data will be analyzed through thematic analysis to identify key themes and patterns related to the use of art in community development and the preservation of cultural identity. The findings show that community-based creative art in the Kewa Yai area plays a significant role in building relationships among artists, youth, and the community through joint activities such as workshops and art performances. Art in this process does not merely create finished products but provides the community with opportunities to express themselves and exchange ideas. Art serves as a tool for linking shared memories and preserving local cultural values. Furthermore, it helps to create contemporary art spaces developed through community participation, fostering collective awareness and promoting sustainable local identity.
