Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a mobile application to enhance English listening comprehension and to examine its quality, effectiveness, and user satisfaction. The participants were 102 undergraduate students enrolled in English and Teaching English programs, selected through voluntary sampling. The research instruments included a need-analysis questionnaire, an interview protocol, an expert evaluation form, a 30-item listening comprehension test, and a user satisfaction questionnaire. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-samples t-tests, while qualitative input from interviews and expert reviews supported the refinement of the application. The results showed that the application achieved high quality in expert evaluation (M = 4.43, SD = 0.74), and learners’ listening comprehension improved significantly after using it (t(101) = –23.31, p < .05). User satisfaction was rated at the highest level (M = 4.52, SD = 0.69). The study contributes a practical model for designing mobile-assisted listening tools and demonstrates that well-structured mobile applications can meaningfully support EFL learners’ listening development. The findings highlight the potential of mobile learning to complement traditional instruction and to address learners’ needs for flexible, engaging, and individualized listening practice.
