About Journal
International Law Research (ILR) is an international, double-anonymized peer-reviewed, open-access journal. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse and fostering critical exchange among legal academics, researchers, and practitioners. ILR provides a platform for rigorous analysis of the evolving legal frameworks governing international relations.
Focus and Scope
International Law Research publishes rigorous scholarship on the formation, interpretation, application, and reform of international, transnational, and supranational law. Its core fields are public international law; private international law and cross-border procedure; international economic, trade, and investment law; international human rights, humanitarian, criminal, environmental, and maritime law; international organizations and dispute settlement; and regional or supranational legal orders. The journal considers doctrinal, comparative, theoretical, historical, empirical, and socio-legal research, provided that international legal norms, institutions, jurisprudence, or legal reasoning remain the principal object of analysis. Comparative-law studies must explain how the comparison advances an international, transnational, or supranational legal question, rather than merely catalogue differences among domestic systems. Interdisciplinary work with international relations, economics, sociology, or public policy is welcome when it produces a distinct legal contribution supported by appropriate legal sources and method. Purely domestic legal studies, general political or diplomatic analysis, descriptive policy commentary, and cross-country comparisons without an international-law problem are not considered.
