Dialectal Movies and Heterogeneity of Contemporary Culture
- Shen Jiang
Abstract
To start a research on the application of dialect in movies and their formation causes and social functions, we must place the questions into specific social and cultural background and examine the relations between dialect, mainstream language and the cultural views of audiences. This paper attempts to take Chinese movies as a starting point to discuss heterogeneity issues in filmic culture by tracing back the history of dialect development and its contemporary cultural conditions. Such thought roots in two aspects. One is “verfremdungs effect of cultural heterogeneity” of dialects and the second is “the multiple natures of cultural heterogeneity”.- Full Text: PDF
