Self-awareness in Sangetsuki
- Lanna Wu
Abstract
The story of Li Zheng, in which he transforms into a tiger, has many adaptations in both Chinese and Japanese literature. Similarities are common in those adaptations, but in Japanese writer Nakajima Atsushi’s version, there lies distinctiveness. He adds “self-awareness” into his adaptation Sangetsuki, and achieves his own literary accomplishments. This paper will give an analysis of this “self-awareness” in Sangetsuki.- Full Text: PDF
