Abstract

This paper examines the effect of gas and liquid superficial velocities on the dynamics of the slug flow in anearly horizontal pipeline. Instead of the invasive measurements the experiments were conducted usingnon-invasive techniques to measure slug frequency and bubble length in the slug flows. A simultaneous PIV-LIFtechnique was employed to measure the instantaneous velocity of both liquid and gas phases simultaneouslyusing two CCD cameras. Effect of gas superficial velocity on the instantaneous measurements were studied andanalyzed.
