Abstract

The level of service industry is a significant target when measuring the socialization of production and the development of
market economy. Despite of its status as a major province in economy and population as well as a coastal province,
Shandong has a lagging service industry. Especially when compared with other developed provinces in China, its poor
capacity in service industry can be displayed in amount, structure as well as quality. In order to facilitate its development in
service industry, some efforts must be made such as updating ideas, speeding up reform, improving people’s income,
speeding up the urbanization course, optimizing the structure of service industry, promoting the openness of service
market, strengthening personnel training and so on.
